Early Learning Alliance Champions Early Childhood Education at the 89th Texas Legislative Session
The Early Learning Alliance (ELA) proudly participated in key advocacy events during the 89th Texas Legislative Session, ensuring early childhood education (ECE) remained a priority in policy discussions. As part of its commitment to supporting high-quality early learning opportunities, ELA engaged with legislators, stakeholders, and fellow advocates during Tarrant County Days and the ECE Rally Day at the Texas Capitol.
Tarrant County Days. During Tarrant County Days, ELA joined a coalition of leaders from North Texas to highlight the impact of early learning programs in the region. Members met with elected officials to discuss the need for sustainable funding, workforce support, and policies that enhance early learning opportunities for children and families. These conversations reinforced the importance of investing in early education as a foundation for future academic and economic success.
ECE Rally Day. The ECE Rally Day, organized by Children At Risk and the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children (TXAEYC), was a powerful advocacy event held on March 6, 2025. The rally brought together child care providers, teachers, advocates, families, business leaders, and nonprofits to emphasize the importance of quality, affordable child care for working families and its impact on the Texas economy. ELA played a pivotal role in ensuring advocates from Tarrant County could attend by organizing a charter bus that brought together a passionate group of ELA members, child care providers, educators, parents, and leaders. This was a partnership with MHMR of Tarrant County and the Fort Worth Chapter of TXAEYC.
ELA remains dedicated to advancing early learning initiatives beyond the legislative session. Through continued advocacy, community partnerships, and engagement opportunities, the Alliance will work to ensure that early childhood education remains a priority in Texas. As the session progresses, we encourage early learning professionals, parents, businesses, and community leaders to stay informed and involved. Together we can create a brighter future for Texas’ youngest learners.
