SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL WELLNESS

We ensure the next generation is in good hands.

Our mission is to support Tarrant County early childhood providers through an inclusive systems approach that supports social-emotional health and overall well-being, while elevating the early childhood profession.

We do this through building awareness; increasing support capacity; reducing barriers of access; influencing policy and practices; and elevating provider and parent voice. Our vision aims for a community of social-emotional wellness; quality early childhood centers; and elevation of equity for all providers, infants, toddlers, and their families.

The Early Learning Alliance is a member of the ACEs Task Force, led by The Center for Children’s Health at Cook Children’s.

What are ACEs?

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events that happen to children and are linked with changes in brain regulation caused by chronic stress.

What does the Task Force do?

Using a two-generation approach, the focus of the Task Force is on reducing the impact of ACEs on children prenatal to five years of age and prevent ongoing adversity for families, in order to improve school readiness, literacy, and overall child well-being. This concept bridges decades of research across multiple disciplines into community action by seeking new strategies to help families connect with early, protective supports to promote their child's healthy development.

What has the Task Force done so far?

  • Exploration teams brainstorming sessions around mental health and suicide prevention

  • Re-engagement standard of practice (SOP) for organizations transitioning away from pandemic-related work-from-home policies

  • Language around mental health within the JOY Campaign, a suicide prevention initiative that aims to encourage hope and resilience among children and teens

  • Development and distribution of Counselor Kits & Roadmap for Children's Mental Health video series

Roadmap for Children’s Mental Health: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers

Raising a child who struggles with their mental health can be scary, challenging and confusing. The Roadmap for Children’s Mental Health is a video series created by the ACEs Task Force to help inform and support caregivers. We hope this will help families navigate this health issue that is becoming more and more common.
